Alone Time

This film is about a group of four friends trying to make it through another day of quarantine. You get some insight on how their different outlooks on quarantine affect their everyday lives and friendships. Questioning each other's habits and emotions causes an outbreak of fighting. How will these friends react to each other's differences?

Alone Time
Directed by Emma B., Written by Isabel D., Edited by Noah F.
Starring Karen C., Richard SW., Johnathan M., Gunnar G.

The evidence we used for our film was our own personal experiences as well as some styles and scenes from The Office(show). We dug into our own personal experiences and emotions throughout quarantine to make realistic characters and scenarios. Such as the pizza argument; when writing the script we talked about how most of us had pizza for breakfast and why. We then talked about whether or not it should be eaten cold or not. When it comes to the characters created we started off by choosing 4 different types of people's reactions and feelings towards quarantine, we then gave the characters habits and such for the type of person they were during quarantine. The habits and such were made from our own habits while being quarantined (or before quarantine). When starting the film we were told we were allowed to do any genre of film we wanted, and one of the examples was a parody which was then going to be our main genre.

Our film was meant to portray a group of four friends who all have different outlooks on quarantine and COVID and how their personalities affect their outlook. The film is meant to give a slight glimpse into these characters day to day experiences. Amanda is an introvert who appreciates quarantine entirely and is content. Jack has neutral feelings towards quarantine, and is mainly focused on getting through everyday without being too negative. Gabe is also slightly neutral, but quarantine has made him lazy. Rodney has become depressed throughout quarantine due to having to separate friends and most social interactions. One of the main events happening throughout the film was interviews with characters on how they’ve gotten through quarantine, as well as the group in a phone call. Every once in a while having a character look into the camera to accentuate the emotion they're feeling in that moment. This creative choice was borrowed from the show The Office. There were a few particular scenes where we borrowed some dialogue from popular memes from the office that we felt matched the vibe. Using some variation of The Office style makes our film partially a parody, but the overall genre is Comedy.
