For our freeform film, we used our own experiences over quarantine and our understanding of current events to help the scriptwriting process. We all experienced the toilet paper rationing that happened at the beginning of the quarantine. The world was thrown into chaos around us and we had to quickly adapt to self-isolation the uncertainty this new virus brought. We watched as Tiger King became the next bingeable documentary on Netflix. As teenagers, we experienced many difficulties because we never went back to normal life after most restrictions were lifted. We used our personal experiences of what quarantine has been like and its global effects. There were a lot of points that we made in the film that referenced trending topics that happened throughout quarantine. From Zoom becoming the new way to participate in school to watching store shelves empty of hand sanitizer and cleaning products, we have lived through a historical time which is reflected in this film.
Over the course of our film, there are four main characters, who are unnamed and referred to as Producers 1 & 2 and Executives 1 & 2. The producers go into the pitch meeting and pitch movie ideas to the executives. Our idea of the movie was to have Producer 1 pitch a movie about the events of 2020, and Producer 2 to pitch odd versions of already existing films. The executives rejected most of the ideas until finally one was accepted.
